Terms & conditions

How this website works, and how we'll work together. No surprises.

These terms are between you and Melissa Jones, a sole trader trading as Lemonade Studios ("we", "us" and "our"), based in the North East of England. Contact: hello@lemonadestudios.uk.

Part 1: Using this website

  • You're welcome to browse, share and link to this website.
  • The designs, logos, words and images on it belong to Lemonade Studios or to the clients whose work is shown. Please don't copy or reuse them without asking.
  • We keep the information here accurate and up to date, but it's general information, not tailored advice for your business.
  • Links to other websites are there to help. We're not responsible for their content.

Part 2: Working together

These terms apply to every project unless we agree something different in writing.

Quotes

Every project starts with a written quote setting out what's included, the price and a rough timeline. Quotes are valid for 30 days. Prices on this website are starting points, and your quote is what counts.

Payment

  • A 50% deposit is due before work starts. It secures your spot in our diary.
  • The remaining 50% is due when you sign off the final designs, before final files are handed over or the website goes live.
  • Invoices are due within 14 days. For business clients, we may charge interest and compensation on late payments under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

Changes

Each project includes 2 rounds of changes, as set out in your quote. Further changes, or new work outside the original scope, are charged at £300 a day (£160 a half day), and we'll always tell you the cost before we start.

What we need from you

To keep things on track, we'll need your content (words, photos, logins), feedback and sign-offs in good time. You confirm that you have the right to use anything you send us, such as photos, text and logos. If a project is paused by you for more than 30 days, we may need to reschedule it and invoice for the work done so far.

Who owns the work

  • Once you've paid in full, you own the final logo, brand files and website designs we deliver to you.
  • Ideas and concepts you didn't choose stay with us.
  • Some elements, such as fonts, stock photos or plugins, are licensed from other companies. We'll tell you about any you need to keep a licence for.
  • We'd love to show your project on our website and social media. If you'd prefer we didn't, just let us know before we start.

Website legal pages

When we build a website, we'll set up a privacy policy and terms page based on trusted templates, written in plain English. We're not lawyers, so these aren't legal advice: you're responsible for checking they fit your business, and we recommend having them reviewed by a legal professional. You're also responsible for any registrations your business needs, such as paying the ICO data protection fee.

AI tools

We use AI tools to help us design and build faster. Every design decision and final check is made by us. We only share the project information needed for the work. You can read more in why we use AI.

Cancelling

  • You can cancel at any time by email. The deposit covers time already booked and work started, so it isn't refundable once work has begun. Any work done beyond the deposit amount will be invoiced.
  • If you're buying as a private individual rather than a business, you have 14 days to cancel after we agree the project. If you ask us to start work within those 14 days, you'll pay for the work done up to the point you cancel.
  • If we ever need to cancel, we'll refund any money paid for work not yet done.

Confidentiality

Anything you share with us about your business stays private, unless you agree otherwise or we're required by law to share it.

Liability

  • We take great care with every project, but we can't be responsible for indirect losses such as lost profits or business, or for problems caused by third-party services like hosting, domains, plugins or email providers.
  • Our total liability for any project is limited to the amount you've paid for it.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

The legal bit

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales. We may update these terms from time to time. The version in place when you accept your quote is the one that applies to your project.
